Frequently Asked Questions
How do I hold my fingers?
For example, if you are someone who worries, and most of your tension and complains are on your right side, wrap your left thumb and left fingers around your right thumb. You are not squeezing nor massaging. Just gentlying holding and breathing.
That's all?
Yes, holding your fingers individually, while breathing naturally.
What kind of breathing?
Diaphragmatic breathing (breathing into the belly) is the best, but if you are not familiar with that or you don't know how to do it, just drop your shoulders, be conscious of your breath, and smile.
Which hand do I go to first?
If you have more tension or discomfort on the right side of your body, then go to the right hand. If you have more tension or discomfort on the left side of the body, then go to the left hand.
For how long do I hold one finger?
You want to hold a finger until you feel a rhythmic pulsation. When you feel pulsation of the finger you are holding, that is telling that energy starts circulating, the finger might become warmer, and you begin to feel tension melting away and a good sense of relaxation.
I don't feel the pulse. Why?
May be you are squeeze too hard. You do not have to squeeze. You do not have to massage. You just need to hold gently and breathe.
If you still do not feel the pulsation or you are not sure if what you feel is pulsation or just your imagination, usually holding individual fingers for one or two minutes is enough to activate the circulation of energy.
Do I only hold one finger?
Ideally you want to do all 10 fingers individually. If you do not have time however, and let say you are working on releasing worries, than just hold your thumbs. When you find some time, then also hold other fingers as well.
In my daily practice I like to hold first my right side. I begin by holding the thumb, then the index, then the middle, then the ring and then the little. Then I do the same thing on the left hand. It does not really matter which side you do first. The most important thing is that you are breathing.
Can I hold more than one finger at the same time?
Ideally, no. But if you really want to, I believe that holding more fingers at once is better than holding no fingers.
I am not sure if I do it right.
The best thing to do, is to do it. There is not right or wrong. The only wrong is not to do it.
